Evacuation Mattress: Ensuring Safe Emergency Evacuations

Evacuating patients or individuals during emergencies, such as fire accidents or earthquakes, can be the biggest challenge in hospitals or high-rise buildings. In such situations, patients who are unable to walk can be safely evacuated through the staircase using an evacuation mattress.

This method is particularly valuable in buildings with narrow or spiral staircases where evacuation chairs may not be suitable. It also proves useful for unconscious patients or those who may find it difficult to use an evacuation chair. The evacuation mattress can be effectively employed to evacuate people across all types of terrains.

  • The evacuation mattress is made up of high-density 50mm thick foam and covered with PVC-coated polyester fabric.
  • The head support is made up of high-density 70mm thick foam, which can be adjusted as per the patient's height and has Velcro straps to secure the head in position.
  • Strap wings are made up of PVC-coated polyester fabric, attached to either side of the bed with Velcro straps.
  • The mattress has an O2 kit pouch—a pouch provided with the mattress in which the portable oxygen cylinder can be inserted, and continuous oxygen can be supplied to critical ICU patients even while on the move.
  • The leg strap is an additional harness provided to secure the patient's legs comfortably. The foot pouch is provided to secure the patient's foot in position and prevent the patient from slipping while being carried downstairs.
  • The pulling belt is used to pull the mattress in the required direction.

The mattress has dimensions of:
